How can I achieve more restful sleep naturally?

Dear Oily,

I need your help! I’ve been so tired lately because I just haven’t been sleeping well. Some nights, I can’t fall asleep. Other nights, I fall asleep and then wake up twenty times. When I do sleep, it’s been restless; I can’t stop tossing and turning.

Are there any oils that can help me get a better night’s sleep?

Sincerely,

Sleepless in the USA

What does the daily life of an oily lady look like?

Dear Oily,

How do you use the oils in your everyday life? I read all these great ideas from my friends on Facebook, and I love reading your blog; but I’m having trouble integrating essential oils and products into my daily life.

What does an actual day in the life of an oily female look like? Can you tell me how you use your oils throughout the day?

Please share!

How can I avoid pit stank naturally?

Dear Oily,

I have a serious problem: pit stank.

In an attempt to go more chemical free, I stopped using my antiperspirant. Big mistake! Now I stiiiiiiiink.

Is there a non-toxic way to deal with this problem? I read about making deodorant but they want you to keep it in a jar :( Not so sure how I feel about using my fingers to apply stuff to my armpits.

Do you have a better solution?

Your Friend,

Pit Stank

How can I make non-toxic chapstick?

Dear Oily,

A friend of mine was telling me all about all the grroooosss stuff that could be hiding in my tube of chapstick. I’m not really a lipstick and makeup kinda girl, but I LIVE on chapstick, especially during the winter.

I’m feeling a bit crafty and want to get my DIY on. Do you have a simple chapstick recipe that uses essential oils?

Thanks!

What can I do about boob sweat?

Dear Oily,

I have been going bra-less (like my favorite blogger Overthrow Martha recommended here) but I have been experiencing a major problem: BOOB SWEAT! It’s embarrassing. No one wants to see those damp, half-moon circles staining my favorite t-shirt.

Are there any oily recipes you can recommend to help me cope with this issue? I don’t want to send my breasts back to boob prison if I don’t have to!

Sincerely,

Ta-Ta Trouble

How do I know if an oil is working for me?

Dear Oily,

I bought about a dozen oils a month ago, and I just jumped right into using them because I loved them so much! Instantly, I felt like my overall health and wellness (which has never been a problem) got even better. I felt stronger, less stressed, and overall more balanced. My problem is, I don’t know which oils are causing me to feel this way.

Is there a way to tell? How can I know if an oil is working for me or not?

Sincerely,

Over-Oiled

Where can I put oils on my body?

Dear Oily,

I’m just starting out with essential oils, and I’ve really enjoyed diffusing them! I want to start using them topically, but I have some concerns.

Where on my body can I put the oils? Are there places I shouldn’t put oils? I saw a recipe for using essential oils in lubrication, and that seemed really dangerous to me!

Please advise!

How do I choose a carrier oil?

Dear Oily,

You’ve convinced me that I need carrier oils! But which carrier oils do I need? Must I buy ALL THE CARRIER OILS!? If not, which ones should I buy? How do I know which one to use? Where can I buy them? Do I have to buy super special ones?

Sincerely,

What are carrier oils and why should I use them?

Dear Oily,

I think my brain simply can’t handle anymore information. I’ve been learning all I can about essential oils, and now I’m realizing that I have to learn about carrier oils too!? When does it end?

Actually, forget about my brain. My wallet can’t handle many more purchases!

So what are these carrier oils? Why should I bother buying them?

Sincerely,

How can I use essential oils?

Dear Oily,

I finally bought myself a bunch of essential oils! I was so excited when they came in the mail; I practically ripped the box open. Now, I’m sitting at my kitchen table with all the bottles set out in front of me, and I’m stumped. Do I sniff them, drink them, roll around in them?

How can I use essential oils?

What are some essential vocabulary words for essential oils?

Dear Oily,

I’ve been reading up on essential oils a lot lately, but it seems like you oily people have your own language! Neat, diluted, carrier, hot. Do I need to be a card carrying member of some secret club to understand these things?

Explain the oily lingo to me, please!

Sincerely,

Why Young Living Essential Oils?

Dear Oily,

I’m really stumped. My one friend just started using essential oils, and she loves them! But she’s using a different brand than the one my sister has been using for years. On top of that, my mother just purchased a bunch of oils from a third brand. I want to hop on this essential oil bandwagon, but I’m not really sure where to start. All three brands sound good, but I’m not sure which one I want to try yet. Maybe I want an entirely different brand!

I’ve noticed that you use Young Living. Why did you choose them?

Thanks!

How can I choose an essential oil brand?

Dear Oily,

I went to the store the other day, determined to purchase Lavender essential oil because I love love the smell of Lavender and I’ve heard how great it can be for your skin! Only when I got there? I was confused because there were several different brands to choose from. I came home and did some research online. That made my head spin! There are just so many brands.

Do I have to just go through them, one by one, and try them all to figure out which is best for me? How can I determine if a brand is even worth trying? Please help!

Sincerely,

Are all essential oils equal?

Dear Oily,

I’m interested in using essential oils, but I’ve noticed that there are so many companies selling essential oils and the prices are all over the place. Why would I spend $20+ on a bottle of Lavender when I can get it at the local store for $7? I don’t want to spend a ton of money if I don’t have to, but I don’t want to be cheap and not get oils that will actually work. Are all oils created equally? Are there different types of essential oils? Please advise!

Sincerely,

What are essential oils?

Dear Oily,

I’ve always been into a more natural lifestyle. I follow a paleo diet, love doing yoga, and I have used herbal supplements to support my body for many years. Lately, I’ve noticed that the local store where I buy my herbs from also sells essential oils. I’ve never really paid much attention to them before, but I keep hearing more and more about them. The last time I was at the store, I sniffed a few bottles and they smelled so good! So I’ve been wondering: what are essential oils and why should I consider using them? Are they more than just a natural perfume?

Sincerely,

Essentially Confused
